The Chairman of Jammatul Izalatul Bidya Waikamatul Sunna (JIBWIS) in Nasarawa State, Shuaibu Ismail, has stressed the need for Nigerians to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari to succeed in fighting terrorism.

Ismail made the appeal at the closing ceremony of the Qur’anic recitation competition for Lafia Local government Area at Lafia-East Juma’at Mosque.

He explained that the present administration needs prayers to succeed in fighting insurgency.

The cleric expressed confidence that with prayers and commitment by government, security threats would soon be a thing of the past.

He called on Nigerians to assist security operatives with useful information whenever the need arises to enable them to succeed.

Ismail said fighting terrorism was the responsibility of all as everyone had a role to play in this regard.

According to him, “President Buhari needs our prayers to overcome the too numerous challenges he met, to address the nation’s problem.”

The cleric also appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the president as the situation had been muddled up even before he assumed office.

“Nobody has the instant answer to our problems; it has to be done gradually; as such we should join hands with him to enable him to find lasting solutions to the mirage of problems he inherited.”

On the essence of Qur’anic recitation competition, the JIBWIS chairman said it was measures to instil the desire for memorisation of the Holy Book of Islam among the younger ones.

He described the Holy Qur’an as a book of Allah, which contains every knowledge about the life of mankind on earth and hereafter.

He, however, commended the organising committee of the competition for a job well-done.

The National Secretary of the competition, Hafiz Abdulmumini-Aliyu, urged believers to seek for religious knowledge, to have a proper direction.
