The Vice Chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Northeast (PCNI), Mr. Tijjani Tumsah was yesterday named Humanitarian of the year 2017, by the Borno Social Media Frontiers (BSF), an internet based Organization in Borno state, that is committed to projecting the good image of Borno state and providing Counter Naratives to Violent extremism and . He was also named Patron of the Organization. 

Presenting the award at the Closing Ceremony of a Three Days Workshop on New Media to Members of the Borno Social Media Frontiers,  the Coordinator of the Organization, Habu Kale Tijjani said,  they’re awarding him because of his strenuous efforts in the Humanitarian sector in the Northeast.

Mr. AlKasim Abdulkadir the Spokesman of PCNI/VSF, was also named Ambassador of the orgaynization in recognition of his support and guidance to the Organization.
Accepting the Award and Patronship,  Mr Tumsah commended the organization for it’s hard work and services it has been rendering by letting the world know of the happenings in Borno and the Northeast. He also challenged them to continue the good work and do even more. 

The training was in fulfilment of the pledge  made by Mr. Tumsah to train and equip the organization during curtecy visit to the Vice Chairman when he was in Maiduguri last month. This is the first time the organization was trained and equipped with such capacity, and the Coordinator solicits other Organizations to follow the footsteps of PCNI in order to equip the social media users with up-to date knowledge in order to overcome the media blackout in the Northeast. 

The workshop Themed: Utilizing New Media 4 Humanitarian & Developmental Reportage, took place at the Nanne and Boi Suites, Maiduguri and at the end of the training, each Participant went home with a Certificate of Attendance and Samsung Galaxy Tab A Mobile Phone, and the Organization was given a High definition Canon Camera to help ease up its work.
