Acting Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Dr. Shettima Bukar Abba.

The Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr Shettima Bukar Abba, has charged the Nigeria Police Force to ensure strict compliance with the principles of federal character in the on-going recruitment exercise.
Dr. Abba gave the charge during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja by the chairman of the Police Service Comission, Mr. Mike Okiro.

The acting executive chairman said the principle of federal character should be applied in the exercise  without compromising merit as it would go a long way in making the exercise transparent and meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
He asked the commission to specifically take note of states like Bayelsa, Ebonyi in the south and the North-east zone which were not adequately represented in the current nominal roll of the police force.
Mr Okiro in his response said that all the local government areas in Nigeria would be represented in the exercise. He said states that were grossly underrepresented in the force over the years would be considered.
Okiro reiterated that a system had been put in place by the commission to strictly scrutinize applicants.
