FG Denies Reports Of Ransom For Chibok Girls

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has denied reports that Boko Haram was demanding $50 million from the government as ransom before releasing the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.

According to his special assistant on media, Segun Adeyemi, the minister who was speaking in an interview with Voice of America said President Muhammadu Buhari promised to do all he can to ensure the release of the following his recent meeting with parents.

He also said ransom reports were not new, adding that there had been several versions of the report about ransom but  until the truth behind it is established,  government would not be in a hurry to make a statement.
He added that government was using its own channels to authenticate the credibility of the source. “The one that we heard was from a source that Boko Haram wants to release 10 of these girls for 1 million Euros,” Mohammed said.
